David Marvin Blake, better known as DJ Quik, was born on January 18, 1970, in Compton, California. Lyrics :

Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh

Always ends the same
When it was me and you
But every time I meet somebody new
It's like déjà vu (Déjà vu)

I swear they sound the same
It's like they know my skin
Every word they say sounds just like him
And it goes like this

We'll get in your car and you'll lean to kiss me
We'll talk for hours and lie on the backseat
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh

And then one random night when everything changes
You won't reply and we'll go back to strangers
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh

Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh

It's something that I hate
How everyone's disposable
Every time I date somebody new
I feel vulnerable (Vulnerable)

That it'll never change
And it will just stay like this
Never endin' date and breakin' up
And it goes like this

We'll get in your car and you'll lean to kiss me
We'll talk for hours and lie on the backseat
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh

And then one random night when everything changes
You won't reply and we'll go back to strangers
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh

Always ends the same
When it was me and you
But every time I meet somebody new
It's like déjà vu (It's like déjà vu)

And when we spoke for months
Well, did you ever mean it? (Did you ever mean it?)
How can we say that this is love
When it goes like this?

We'll get in your car and you'll lean to kiss me
We'll talk for hours and lie on the backseat
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh

And then one random night when everything changes
You won't reply and we'll go back to strangers
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh (Go back to strangers)

Lyrics:

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly

I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain

Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

The official music video for Luke Bryan's "What Makes You Country"

People talkin' 'bout what is and what ain't country
What gives 'em a right to wear a pair of beat-up boots?
Is it the size of your tires and your fires, or your wild ass buddies?
Well, give me a minute, let me hit you with some hometown truth
You could be a cowboy on the Texas plain
Or a plowboy waitin' on the rain
We're all a little different, but we're all the same
Everybody doin' their own thing

I got my dirt road cred when I was twelve
On a no cap tractor halling in bales
Backing in boats, fishing landlines
Running bird docks through the Georgia pines

LYRICS
I’m heavy
I’m by your side
Forget me cause I know what I need, like a loser like me could be fine
I’m heavy
Alone inside
Don’t tell me what I want what I need, like a loser like me will be fine

Maybe I’m living in my head
Maybe I’m living to pretend
Maybe I wanna stay in bed far from the weight of the world in my hands cause they don’t understand

Is someone telling me don’t get in the water?
What have I done?
I don’t wanna get lost inside the color under my tongue
And I don’t wanna be in love with another
Even in another life
Can someone tell me it’s alright to be covered
Underneath the covers, but I
No I don’t need to sleep anymore

Is someone banging at my door?
When I just wanna be alone?
Is someone banging at my door?
Is someone banging at my door
When I just wanna be alone
Is someone banging at my door?
Is someone banging at my door?
Cause I just wanna be alone
Yeah I just wanna be alone
I just wanna be alone
Yeah I just wanna be alone
I just wanna be alone

The smile that erupts onto Fabiola Méndez’s face just as she launches into her first tune says everything about the joy she finds in making music that explores her culture.

Her instrument is the Puerto Rican cuatro, the national folk musical instrument of Puerto Rico. She started on the instrument at age 6 in her native Caguas, Puerto Rico, and carried it with her as her principal instrument for her studies at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston.

What makes her take behind the Desk with her four piece band stand out is not just her dexterity on the instrument, but also how she incorporates tradition into a very contemporary musical setting. You can hear that musical vision and dedication to storytelling through both Méndez’s vocals and also in the song “Tributo A Mis Abuelos,” an instrumental that conjures up visions of the pastoral Puerto Rican countryside where the jibaro (rural) culture thrives.

In Méndez’s hands, the cuatro becomes not just an example of a rich, Afro-Caribbean culture, but also an instrument to spread joy.

SET LIST
“Seis Chorreao”

The Will to Win
by Berton Braley

If you want a thing bad enough
To go out and fight for it,
Work day and night for it,
Give up your time and your peace
And your sleep for it,

If only desire of it
Makes you quite mad enough
Never to tire of it,
Makes you hold all other things tawdry
And cheap for it,

If life seems all empty
and useless without it
And all that you scheme
And you dream is about it,

If gladly you'll sweat for it,
Fret for it, Plan for it,
Lose all your terror of God
or man for it,

If you'll simply go after that
thing that you want
With all your capacity,
Strength, and sagacity,
Faith, hope, and confidence,
stern pertinacity,

If neither cold poverty,
famished and gaunt,
Nor sickness nor pain
Of body and brain
Can turn you away from
the thing that you want,

If dogged and grim you
besiege and beset it,
You'll get it.

After the success of the hit single "Nasty," R&B superstar Tinashe sits down with Zane Lowe in the studio to discuss her latest installment in her 3-album trilogy, Quantum Baby.

Compared to her previous album, BB/ANG3L, Tinashe describes Quantum Baby as a darker, ambient, chapter of her musical career. She explains that nothing besides her own feelings inspired any of the songs, allowing her to go to an untouched, darker place in her music. Tinashe ends the conversation with exciting updates on the "Match My Freak" World Tour.

7 months ago I hit Von in the DM, we facetime'd and sent him the track. We didn't have a deep relationship.... He shared that freestyle on the spot wasn't his thing but he mentioned that his pen game was mean! He sent me 6 bars... we listened.. tweaked it and he finished the song in about 4 weeks. He let me know he was coming to New York for his album so i asked to shoot the vid! His publicist said he has/likes Hellcat Redeye's! When i met him he made it known he was gonna hit the drivers seat! 2 days later he passed. I have an interview i recorded that day but I'm not going to release it... no need. After Von passed we couldn’t find the session/vocals/track. Thanks so much to Dj Ted Smooth for working his magic on getting me the vocals to mix. Rest well Von... THANK U FOR THE OPPORTUNITY!

Lyrics:
It's pouring in
You’re laid on the floor again
One knock at the door and then
We both know how the story ends
You can’t win if your white flag’s out when the war begins
Aiming so high but swinging so low
Trying to catch fire but feeling so cold
Hold it inside and hope it won’t show
I’m saying it’s not but inside I know

Today’s gonna be the day you notice
Cause I’m tired of explaining what the joke is

This is what you asked for
Heavy is the crown
Fire in the sunrise
Ashes raining down
Try to hold it in but
It keeps bleeding out
This is what you asked for
Heavy is the
Heavy is the crown

Turn to run
Now look what it's become
Outnumbered ten to one
Back then should've bit your tongue
'Cause there’s no turning back this path once it’s begun
You’re already on that list
Say you don’t want what you can't resist
Waving that sword when the pen won’t miss
Watch it all falling apart like this

This is what you asked for
Heavy is the crown
Fire in the sunrise
Ashes raining down
Try to hold it in but it
It keeps bleeding out
This is what you asked for
Heavy is the
Heavy is the crown

Today’s gonna be the day you notice
Cause I’m tired of explaining what the joke is

THIS IS WHAT YOU ASKED FOR
This is what you asked for
Heavy is the crown
Fire in the sunrise
Ashes raining down
Try to hold it in but it
It keeps bleeding out
This is what you asked for
Heavy is the
Heavy is the crown
Heavy is the crown
Heavy is the
Heavy is the crown
