Five bucks says longtime rap fans got chills when they first heard Common and Pete Rock were working on a project. Chicago’s most poetic OG connecting with the revered Mt. Vernon hero behind “They Reminisce Over You”? C’mon, that’s an event. And maybe those chills became a bit more pronounced when the same fans heard “Wise Up,” the first volley from the forthcoming ‘The Auditorium Vol. 1.’. Boom bap echoes with a 2024 sheen, the track, and its very cool video, arrive with an old school gravitas driven by a modern sense of kinetics. “We don’t have to reach to make it sound like a throwback,” says Common. “We don’t have to reach to try to make it sound like it’s new and young. We’ve just got to be who we are and do what we love.” As is often the case, the Chicago MC's rhymes push a posi spirit while taking an unflinching look at the culture. No wonder he references being a “sleuth for the truth.” Can’t tell for sure, but it sounds like Rock’s got a sample from ‘The Odd Couple’ TV show theme smoothing out the track's refrain. The collab itself reminds that their individual aesthetics fit quite nicely, and when they came into our studio to share “Dreamin’," you could feel camaraderie driving the action, “from the stellar regions of the soul…”

「華やかに抱きしめて」Official Music Video

「いま僕たちは一つになり、ここからはじめる」という熱いメッセージと疾走感あるメロディが印象的な華MEN組デビュー曲は、歌謡界を代表するゴールデンコンビ、松井五郎作詞、都志見隆作曲による書き下ろし作品。
はじめて聴いた時、メンバーたちは自らのストーリーと重ね合わせ涙した。
その感動を胸に、等身大の「僕らの物語」を力強く歌い上げます。

【華MEN組とは】
コウジ（石綿宏司）・ユウキ（勝村友紀）・ユッキー（内田結稀）・タクミ（橋口巧）・ダイキ（一戸大輝）・コウキ（山口晃生）からなる、オーディションで選ばれたアイドル歌謡男性6人組グループ。歌謡曲を次世代にも継承したいと、昭和・平成の歌謡＆ポップスを歌い繋ぎ、歌謡×ダンス・パフォーマンスをミックスしたオリジナル曲で「華」やかなステージを披露。平均年齢29歳という若さならではの清涼感と誠実さ溢れる魅力を備え、全員がダンス経験者というパフォーマンスへの高いポテンシャルを武器に、フレッシュでエモーショナルな歌謡界の新風として華やかにデビューする。
オーディションは2023年10月20日～11月15日（３週間）の募集期間で１次審査を実施。パフォーマンス動画と書類審査を通過した30名が12月3日に行われた2次審査に臨み、2次審査は、歌唱とパフォーマンス、即席のチームでのグループミッション、面接、2種類のアンケートにより実施され、最終面接により6人のメンバーが選出された。
27歳から33歳までのシンガー、アイドルグループ、声優、俳優、ダンサー、ボクシングライセンス取得者など様々な経歴を持つ6人で構成されている。コロナ禍のパフォーマンス活動の制限等で自身や仲間の脱退という苦い経験を持つ者、怪我で幼い頃からの夢を諦めざるを得なかった者、オーディションに挑戦しては落選の連続で悔しい気持ちを積み重ねてきた者、一度はサラリーマンとして就職した者など、20代にして苦節を経験した人間ばかり。
「自分の人生をあきらめない」という強い信念で見事オーディションを勝ち抜いた6人は、「同じような境遇の人たちにエールを送りたい」「応援してくれた両親、家族に恩返しをしたい」という想いを抱え、「全員で同じ方向を目指して進もう」「幅広い世代の方に愛していただけるグループになろう」というスローガンのもと、みなさまの心に希望の「華」を咲かせるために、アイドル歌謡グループ「華MEN組」としての道をスタートさせた。

With the release of their fourth studio album, 1994’s Superunknown, Soundgarden were on top of the world. In 1994 alone Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden would all have number 1 albums.If you include late 1993, Nirvana had one too with their unplugged record As Soundgarden released their follow up in 1996, Down on the Upside, the band were teetering on imploding. Maybe it wasn’t surprising given that things had changed for the big seattle bands - alice in chains was limping along due to substance abuse, nirvana was done, and Pearl Jam were still embroiledi n their battle with Ticketmaster and still not doing music videos. Soundgarden were coming to terms with their success. In today’s video, let’s talk about why Soundgarden fell apart the first time.
Formed in Seattle in 1984, Soundgarden would blend metal and punk rock resulting in a sludgy sound. In 1987 they released their Screaming Life EP through fledgling Seattle label Sub Pop. They would release 1988’s Ultramega Ok on SST Recorde.. Then Soundgarden became the first major Seattle band from that era to ink a deal with a major label, signing with A&M Records. They released their major label debut in 1989 with Louder Than Love and returned in 1991 with Badmotorfinger, a record still held up as their best work by many fans. It was also by the early 90’s the band cemented their classic lineup with frontman Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Sheppard and drummer Matt Cameron. Though they were hailed as one of the big 4 bands from Seattle and the more experienced their peers - Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains enjoyed success much earlier than they did.
Thayil would tell Revolver "
"I remember the Nirvana guys wanting to be on Sub Pop, saying we were their favorite band," he continues. "The first time I met Kurt Cobain, I told him how much I loved their 'Love Buzz' single, and he said, 'Well, consider yourself our biggest influence.' These were the things that were important to us at the time."
Following the release of their third album 1991’s album Bad Motorfinger, guitarist kim Thayil recalled hearing several songs Chris Cornell had demoed for their follow up superunknown. These songs included spoonman, let me drown and black hole sun. He recalled thinking that there’s probably a few singles amongst those songs. It was at a metallica gig before superunknown came out that the guitarist spoke to metallica’s manager Cliff Bernstein who told him Soundgarden was following the same career path as metallica, telling him their next album would be their breakout hit and he was right. 1994’s Superunknown was massive, selling an impressive six million copies stateside and giving the band some of their most popular songs - black hole sun, spoonman, fell on black days, and The Day I Tried to live.
The tour for superunknown represented the first time the members of Soundgarden would do their own headlining shows with an extensive stage production. Drummer Matt Cameron would tell Greg Prato “For the most part it was pretty fun. Then towards the end of that tour, Kurt Died and i think the whole fabric of the group was starting to unravel a bit.”
Thayil would clarify that at this point in the band’s career, there wasn’t really any interpersonal tensions but rather it was stressful always being on the road and dealing with emotions without their support system especially after Kurt Cobain died adding “it wasn’t fair. We didn’t get to drive and be around our family during that period. We were supposed to be on the road and that’s when it sucked. People dying out the seattle music scene wasn’t supposed ot happen.”
Maybe foreshadowing the upcoming problems the band would face, the last date of the superunknown tour did not go well. Thayil would recall to greg prato Our last show was at memorial stadium in seattle - a really bad show. Chris’ voice was having a really fucked up time. When the show was over he just walked off stage got in a car and took off”
When it came time to begin working on their follow up album 1996’s Down on the Upside, the roles in teh band were slowly shifting. The group’s then manager and wife of Chris Cornell Susan Silver

The band Type O Negative would mix themes of romance, drugs, depression, and death and would be credited as bringing goth rock to the masses Their third record Bloddy kisses would be their commercial break through and the biggest album of their career. It also made them the biggest band on the then fledging label roadrunner records In today’s video let’s take a look at the history of bloody kisses.
Type O Negative frontman and bassist Peter Steele would be the youngest of six children, raised in a strick catholic household in brookly new york. He would consider himself a burden to his parents He would remark to the dayton daily news that he was taught that everything normal was evil. As he grew up, he distanced himself from religion calling himself a born again pagan. As for his musical influences, he would grow up idolizing the beatles and black sabbath remarking to the associated press “i’ve always loved the beatles. I’ve always loved b lack sabbath. I like the heaviness mixed with a good strong melody.”
As Steele got older he would branch out to like a wider range of bands telling the LA Times he was a fan of droning and, dreamy sounds citing bands like the Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine and Dead Can Dance. . ..
A lot of Type O Negative’s music was written from Steele’s point of view growing up as he didn’t have a lot of luck with woman, was emotionally fragile and vulnerable to demons with the imposing frontman telling the LA Times in 1997
“I have gotten my heart broken so many times that I’ve lost count,” “Any time I’ve been involved with someone I’ve cared about, I’ve suffocated them by caring too much. That’s probably why I lost them.”
The imposing Steele would stand 6foot 8 inches tall and weighed t250 pounds with his deep baritone voice, He would refer to himself as the ideal frankenstein but interviewers would describe him as soft spoken, guarded and polite. However, his opinion of himself was pretty low with him referring to himself in interviews as a monster, a psychopath and social expletive.
Steele would tell tbe associated press Some people mistake kindness for stupidity and so now that I’m a scumbag to people I get automatic respect. It was during the late 70’s Steele played in band’s like Hot Ice and Northern Lights. By 1979 he would play in the band Fallout with future Type O Negative keyboardist Josh Silver. But the heavier sounds of punk which were popular for a few years was being replaced with disco and new wave and Fallout would split. Silver and Steele would part musically with Silver founding the new wave group original sin while Steele would start up the metal group Carnivore. Carnivore would sign to a small label named Roadrunner records who put out a handful of albums before they fell apart. .
Following Carnivore, Steele was initially focused on working for the municipal government, trying to become a cop but life had other things in mind. Future type o negative drummer Sal Abruscato who had worked with Steele at a blacksmith shop heard about Carnivore’s breakup and went over to talk to his friend about working on some new music telling loudersound His father answered the door and let me down, and there’s Peter sitting in bed watching TV, having just cut all his hair off! He had just took the New York Police Department test; he didn’t want to play music anymore. I asked if he wanted to hang out and jam, have some fun. He nods, saying he’s always wanted to have a band with electronica – keyboards, samples and things like that. I’m like, ‘Yeah, cool man!’ just saying anything so I could play with the guy!”
