Lyrics:
So I’m crazy
That’s usually not my thing
Bitch, I’m crazy
Suspicious and insane
Can you blame me?
Yeah, you made me this way
Now I’m in the trenches
Fighting for my senses

Stay up and I pace around, I pace around the room
Wake up and I’m thinkin’ bout, I’m thinkin’ bout you
Can’t read or write or do what I like to do
I spend my days, 4/20 blaze
Just thinkin’ “what’s he gonna do?”

I’m taking thirst traps in the mirror in my room
I think I look bad so I change the lighting
I used to kick back watching movies and the news
But now I’m lame
It’s such a shame
I used to be so super cool

But then I got that thing, and it changed me
Now all I ever think’s “would you date me?”
And I bet you would, but if you wouldn’t, oh
I’ll catch you in the trenches
Coming to your senses

Stay up and I pace around, I pace around the room
Wake up and I’m thinkin’ bout, I’m thinkin’ bout you
Can’t read or write or do what I like to do
I spend my days, 4/20 blaze
So vacant, tanning on the roof

I’m taking thirst traps in the mirror in my room
I think I look bad so I take a hundred
I used to kick back watching movies and the news
But now I’m lame
It’s such a shame
I used to be so super cool

I’m taking thirst trap and I’m waking up at noon
I think he’ll text back when I’m in the shower
I used to kick back watching movies and the news
But now I’m lame
It’s such a shame
I used to be so super cool

I used to be so super cool
Now I’m in a box with all the tools
I know it’s all because of you
Yes, I forgive but I don’t forget at all
You’re not suffering a fool
I know it’s why you want me too
I know it’s why you want me too
‘Cause I used to be so super cool

But now I listen to my playlists and pretend I’m you
Look at what I posted and pretend I’m you, uh
I’m sick and twisted and boring
But all yours, so let me adore you
I’m not what I used to be
And you don’t want me, it’s easy to see
And I’ll move on eventually
But for now, I’m taking pictures

I’m taking thirst traps in the mirror in my room
I think I look bad, but it doesn’t matter
I once read that some peoples beauty can’t be captured
And he’ll be sorry
Happy ever after

LYRICS
Stapled shut, inside an outside world
And I'm sealed in tight, bizarre but right at home
I'm claustrophobic - closing in
And I'm catastrophic, not again
I'm smeared across the page, and doused in gasoline
I wear you like a stain, yet I'm the one who's obscene
Catch me up on all your sordid little insurrections,
I've got no time to lose, and I'm just caught up in all the cattle

Fray the strings
Throw the shapes
Hold your breath
Listen!

I am a world before I am a man
I was a creature before I could stand
I will remember before I forget
BEFORE I FORGET THAT!

I am a world before I am a man
I was a creature before I could stand
I will remember before I forget
BEFORE I FORGET THAT!

I'm ripped across the ditch, and settled in the dirt
I wear you like a stitch, yet I'm the one who's hurt
Pay attention to your twisted little indiscretions
I've got no right to win, I'm just caught up in all the battles

Locked in clutch
Pushed in place
Hold your breath
Listen!

I am a world before I am a man
I was a creature before I could stand
I will remember before I forget
BEFORE I FORGET THAT!

I am a world before I am a man
I was a creature before I could stand
I will remember before I forget
BEFORE I FORGET THAT!

My end
It justifies my means
All I ever do is delay
My every attempt to evade
The end of the road and my end
It justifies my means
All I ever do is delay
My every attempt to evade
THE END OF THE ROAD!

I am a world before I am a man
I was a creature before I could stand
I will remember before I forget
BEFORE I FORGET THAT!

I am a world before I am a man
I was a creature before I could stand
I will remember before I forget
BEFORE I FORGET THAT!

I am a world before I am a man
I was a creature before I could stand
I will remember before I forget
BEFORE I FORGET THAT!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, OH!

LYRICS

Fuck everything I did
To feel good for a moment, nothing past
Nothing past

Fuck what I never said
And every door I couldn’t open in the past
Fuck the past

Fuck what I can’t accept
The ugly feelings that I reject but cannot quit
I cannot quit them

Can you leave me out?
Tell me I’m a sore loser
With a bitter heart
I crawl inside and let it take me

A way out, I thought it was

There is no fix, I’m just tender like this
I watch you take me in
Will you love me through this?
Cuz I wanna be cherished by you
I wanna be cherished by you
Not feared by you
I wanna be cherished by you
By you

Metallica: Screaming Suicide (Official Music Video) Hotney 6 Streams • 4 years ago

⁣Metallica's official music video for “Screaming Suicide,” from the album “72 Seasons” available April 14th, 2023.

“‘Screaming Suicide’ addresses the taboo word of suicide. The intention is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It's ridiculous to think we should deny that we have these thoughts. At one point or another, I believe most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspoken. If it's a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone.”

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please reach out for help.

LYRICS

Welcome to this life
Born into the fight
Here to claim your dream
Look you in the eye
Patch the broken sky
Craving dopamine
Then my voice appears
Teaching you of fears
Are you good enough?
You don’t recognize
Head is full of lies
You should just give up

Listen well, better listen well
Listen well, better listen well

Don’t ever speak my name
Remember you’re to blame
Keep me inside
Keep me inside
My name is suicide

Curse another day
Spirit locked away
Punish and deprive
Hate to be awake
Living a mistake
More dead than alive
Then a voice appears
Whisper in your ears
“You are good enough”
Throwing down a rope
A lifeline of hope
Never give you up

Listen well, better listen well
Listen well, better listen well

Don’t ever speak my name
Remember you’re to blame
Keep me inside
Keep me inside
My name is suicide

Terrified in sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
Isolate and fight your mind
Telling you you’re left behind

My lying voice inside
Keeps drinking cyanide
And no more can you run
Into the sun

Terrified, sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
Isolate and fight your mind
Telling you you’re left behind

And now you speak my name
You’ve given back the blame
Keep me deep inside
Don’t you keep me inside
Screaming suicide

Now that I’m exposed inside
Shined a light on cyanide
I’m no longer needed here
Now you've faced your biggest fear

Du Hast - The Rammstein Story ┃ Documentary Hotney 6 Streams • 4 years ago

In the beginning, Richard was very keen on trying to replicate American styles and seeing if it could be absorbed into the music he was writing at the time but quickly realised that it simply wouldn’t work. Till even tried to sing in English, however, they decided that the German language would not only help to distinguish them from others, it was also much easier for them to convey the content of their lyrics using their mother tongue. Singer Till would also take a very simple approach when it came to writing lyrics. He would generally write hard sounding lyrics for harder riffs, and softer lyrics for softer riffs.

Rammstein, as individuals, had a variety of influences when it came to music. Till Lindemann's first record was Alice Cooper's Welcome To My Nightmare, along with one of his favourite albums being “Stomrbringer” by Deep Purple, and he was also a big fan of Chris Isaak.

Richard was into the American punk band Dead Kennedys as well as the English electro band Depeche Mode, and Oliver Riedel remembers hearing his mother playing Bob Dylan non-stop at home, with keyboardist Flake took cues from German 80s pop/rock band Die Arzte. It seemed that Motorhead also played a part in the development of the Rammstein sound as Richard remembers their live show leaving a lasting impression on him.

dodie: Tiny Desk Concert Hotney 6 Streams • 4 years ago

Robin Hilton | January 10, 2023
On many levels, this breathtaking Tiny Desk from dodie felt like the ultimate cathartic release. The English singer and her band arrived after more than a year and a half of planning and COVID-related delays; and, this was the final performance we had behind the desk in 2022, capping our long-awaited return to the building after more than two years of pandemic disruption. A lot of us who were lucky enough to see it in person were pretty teary-eyed by the end.

But it was also a release because the music and the way dodie and her band pulled it off were both so magical. Bassist Jillian McKenna is a dodie fan from Canada who joined the band just for this performance after answering a callout on Instagram. The three backup singers are friends who flew in from Los Angeles; the string section was a mix of dodie’s touring band and DC-based artists and fans of Orla Gartland can see her move from piano to guitar and floor tom during the set. dodie herself, who played everything from piano and clarinet to ukulele, and the rest of the band flew in from England solely for the Tiny Desk, arriving on Saturday and flying back Monday not long after playing.

Together, they filled the NPR Music office with songs that radiated with love and life, perfectly recreating the playful, kaleidoscopic spirit of dodie’s 2021 debut album Build a Problem and last year’s Hot Mess EP. Strikingly melodic, whimsical and wistful, dodie’s deep reflections on trauma, letting go and moving on were the perfect close to a year when it felt like we could finally exhale and come together again in song.
